Homemade goodness & wonderful!! LOVE these cookies and the person who is lucky enough to get one loves them too! Great that you can insert your own message too.
I was introduced to the amazing, incredible, tasty sandwich's at Ernie's Market last year, why my family has kept this place from me I will never know, maybe because at lunch time the line is out the door for one of Ernie's "$5.00 with lot's of love" creations!! Since being allowed to know about this place, I have been there MANY more times, not only does he remember you, he remembers your family and asks about them. You go there for the sandwich and Ernie!! The cold Hershey kisses you get from him while you wait are just another bonus. Seriously, I have driven from my home 25 miles away for a fix! Don't go looking for a fancy sandwich shop, it's a corner store market, the old fashioned kind, the kind with service and a smile. You will return, I guarantee it!!!
And to get a sandwich from Ernie is not only just getting a sandwich. He performs--as only the old time showmen could-- as he creates this wonderful tall delicious looking sandwich filled with your choice of condiments, placed very carefully on the sandwich by an assistant. That is all Ernie will allow his assistant to do. He--very definitely--is the only one who makes the sandwiches. It is his specialty performance, a performance that is a thrill to watch. His arms wave in the air as he says, "Baby I will fix you the best sandwich you ever had;" or "Would you like a little love with that?" (Love is his own specially created condiment, one, I think he should market and get placed on the shelves right next to Paul Newman's dressings.) You definitely have to hold the sandwich in both hands. And you can stand right there and eat it, enjoying the ambiance, or jump into your car and have your stomach put a smile on your face as you drive through the neighborhood.
Oh yeah!!! What can you say about this place, great time, great location, FANTASTIC service. I am so not surprised that this place is always crowded! Makes hanging out there even more fun. Give it a try if you are downtown for anything, you won't go back to your suburban gereric Irish name bar, well you might, but you'll tell everyone you were at the Ole Shillelagh!
