Nominated for: BEST Martial Arts
Holloway's Isshin-Ryu karate school has been servicing the community since 1981 and is committed to excellence in karate. Our school is dedicated to teaching Isshin-Ryu in the way of our Founder Shimabuku, Tatsuo . Soke.
This school is for students both young and old (5-75+) who want to learn traditional and effective Okinawan (Japanese) karate. Sensei Holloway has been studying Isshin-Ryu karate since 1968. He is an eight degree black belt and was inducted into the Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame in 2008. He started training with Sensei Norbert Donnelly, and has studied with two of Shimabuku's First generation students: the late Sherman Harrill and Harold Mitchum, Shimabuku's number one American student who spent more time with Shimabuku on Okinawa than any other American and ran a second dojo for him. The techniques taught work effectively. No contracts, no hype, no testing fees, just traditional karate taught as it has been taught for generations on the Japanese Island of Okinawa.
